America’s favorite smartphone isn’t an iPhone

Namecheap.com
There’s little question that iPhone users love their smartphones. Regardless of how negative the current news cycle is, Apple’s iPhone lineup is still the best-selling smartphone line in the world by a wide margin. Studies and surveys also consistently show that Apple retains smartphone customers better than any other phone brand, and this has been the case for years. Interestingly, however, a new major study has found that a new smartphone is now the Apple of the American consumer’s eye.
The American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) is likely the most highly regarded survey of its kind. It spans a wide range of areas, but results from the telecommunications portion of the study were just released. You can download the ACSI Telecommunications Report 2016 report for free right here.
There’s plenty packed into the report, but one area in particular drew our interest. The ASCI’s survey includes a line of questioning that helps determine how satisfied American consumers are with their smartphones, and in 2016 the phone at the top of the pile was not an iPhone. In fact, this marks the second consecutive year that Apple’s iPhone found itself bested by its top rival.
According to the latest ACSI Telecommunications Report, America’s favorite smartphone is the Galaxy Note 5. The handset managed a consumer satisfaction score of 86/100, one point better than the iPhone 6s Plus. The Galaxy S6 edge+ and Galaxy Note 4 both earned a score of 84/100 to share the No. 3 spot, and the iPhone 6s trailed them at 83/100.
Overall, Apple managed a satisfaction score of 81/100, topping Samsung’s score of 80/100.
